The Copalis State Airport is a tiny airport covering an area of only 16 acres. The airstrip is located on an ocean beach near the mouth of the Copalis River, in the North Beach Seashore Conservation Area, adjacent to the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary. It is the only airport in Washington State where landing on the beach is legal. For the operational year ending in May 2011 the airport handled a total of 200 aviation operations for the year, averaging out to 16 per month.
