Freeway Airport is a privately owned, public-use airport located two miles northwest of the central business district of Mitchellville, in Prince George's County, Maryland. Hani Hanjour, one of the hijackers involved in the events of September 11, 2001 attempted to rent an aircraft at Freeway Airport however instructors at here flew with him and deemed him insufficiently skilled to rent a plane by himself. The facility carries out an average of 66 flights per day and there are 76 aircraft based here. It offers several aviation services such as refueling and major airframe repairs.
