Griffin Field Airport is a public airport located two miles east of Levant, Penobscot County, Maine. It is privately owned by Paul F. Griffin Snr. and was activated in March 2011. The airport only offers tiedowns and automotive gasoline and has three based aircraft.
Levant was originally founded by Major Moses Hodsden in 1802 and was called “Kenduskeag Plantation”. It consisted of three houses, a sawmill, grist-mill, store and blacksmith shop. It became a town in 1813 and was renamed Levant.
