Middlesboro-Bell County Airport is publicly owned by the City of Middlesboro and Bell County in Kentucky. The airport was opened in 1940, and is located 1 mile west of the city of Middlesboro. The majority of the traffic the airport deals with is classified under general aviation, although there is a small percentage of air taxi services as well as military operations that use the airport. For the year ending in August 2012, the airport was handling an average of 50 aircraft operations a day.
