The Needles Airport is publicly owned by the County of San Bernardino and serves Needles, California. It is a medium sized airport, covering a total of 796 acres, at an elevation of 300 meters above mean sea level. The airport is located five miles south of the city, and was first opened in 1941. During the second world war the airport was known as Needles Army Airfield and was used by the United States Army Air Forces Fourth Air Force. After WWII the airport retuned to civil use.
