Northwest Regional Airport is a privately owned airport located three miles north west of Roanoke, in Denton County, Texas. The airport is designated for the sole purpose of general aviation. The airport was originally named Aero Valley Airport and was owned by pioneering aviatrix Edna Gardner Whyte. Whyte was an accomplished pilot who won 127 trophies in cross-country air racing, aerobatic competition and other flight contests. After an in flight heart attack in 1988 Whyte sold the runway and taxiways but retained ownership of the rest of the airport facilities.
