Also just known as Port Columbus, Port Columbus International Airport is located six miles east of downtown Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. It’s airport code ‘CMH’ stands for “Columbus Municipal Hangar” which was an old name for the airport.
It covers an approximate area of 1,164 acres of land and was founded in July 1929. The site was chosen by Charles Lindbergh, and the original terminal building and hangars are still in use. The terminal has been restored and has rental office space and the hangars are still used for aircraft storage.
