Salinas Municipal Airport is located 3 miles southeast of Salinas, Monterey County, California. It is a public-use airport owned by the City of Salinas covering 605 acres of land.
Originally opened as Salinas Army Air Field in late 1941, it was used by the U.S. Army Air Forces Fourth Air Force as a subpost to Fort Ord during World War II. Salinas was used as a training base for photo-reconnaissance units and missions and is also the location of the annual California International Airshow.
