SANDERSON FIELD
Originally named Mason County Airport, Sanderson Field is a lighted-land public use airport located in Shelton, Mason County, Washington. It opened in the late 1920’s and was used as a Naval Air Station during World War II. The airport covers 1,054 acres of land and has one active asphalt paved runway. It also has a closed runway that is occasionally used as a drag strip. Olympic Air and Kapowsin Air Sports serve as the fixed based operators here offering aviation fuel, parking tiedowns, minor airframe and powerplant repair, on-site pilot’s cafe as well as skydiving facilities.
