Siskiyou County Airport is only a few miles northeast of Montague and typically serves in a general aviation capacity although it has a long military history and still serves such traffic today. During World War II it served as an auxiliary field and later as a dispersal base and it was originally developed through funds from the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA). The Air Force finally terminated their lease with the county on 15 May 1972, placing the airport into a more general purpose direction for civil aviation.
