Springfield–Beckley Municipal Airport is a joint civil and mlitray airport. The Ohio Air National Guard has 3 units , inlcuding the 178th Fighter wing stationed at the co-located Springfield Air National Guard Base. The airport was named after the Beckley family, a member of which knew the Wright Brothers, and witnessed and photographed their first flights.For the 12 month period ending Novemeber 2005, the airport had an average of 169 aviation operations per day. The vast majority of these operations was general aviation, followed by 24% militray and 6% air taxi charters.
