Also known as Eisenhower National Airport, and now known as Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, it is located seven miles west of downtown Wichita. The largest and busiest airport in the state of Kansas, it is referred to as Wichita Airport by the locals.
It is named for Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States (1953 - 1961). His boyhood home, Presidential Library and museum are at the Eisenhower Presidential Centre in Abilene, Kansas.
