The Emiliano is one of the finest hotels in Brazil, let alone São Paulo. If, however, you’d looking for something a little more exciting, the quirky Hotel Unique more than lives up to its name. Shaped like an ocean liner, its interior is chic and modern with some subtle nautical touches. It is also home to Skye, a rooftop restaurant where the hip go to see and be seen.

In general you’ll find there’s great shopping, entertainment and dining options throughout the city, but we’ve pulled out a few of our favourites to help you get started. Aside from those mentioned above, São Paulo is also home to D.O.M, which is one of ‘The World’s Top 50 Best Restaurants’ and a must for those looking to experience the best of local Brazilian cuisine. Also worth noting is the Japanese dining scene as there is a big community of Japanese here, resulting in some outstanding dining options. Shopping is best done either in one of the many malls – we recommend Cidade Jardim and Iguatemi – or Oscar Freire Street, which offers luxury and contemporary designers including both local and international brands.

São Paulo’s main airport, Governador André Franco Montoro International Airport is the largest and most easily accessible. Throughout and around the city you’ll find plenty of helipads, so you can head to the main airport then out to your hotel via helicopter.
