Following Tuesday night’s final round of qualification matches, most teams now know whether or not they will be competing in next year’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Leading aircraft charter broker, Air Charter Service, has reported that they have been receiving calls already with customers enquiring about charter flights to the country next summer. Matt Purton, Commercial Jets Director at the company, commented: “ACS is already taking requests for charter flights to, and within, Brazil. At this stage they are just initial enquiries as the teams do not yet know in which cities they will be playing, and won’t do until the draw for the groups takes place on December 6th. It is, however, important to have initial plans in place before then.” Purton explains the importance of charter flights in tournaments such as this: “The competition will have matches in 12 different cities, with distances of up to 3,000 kilometres to contend with. That’s a long coach ride! Chartering aircraft is often the most sensible way to travel from one match to the next. Over the past few World Cups we have arranged hundreds of flights for fans, sponsors and teams and expect even more demand next summer. “Our local office in São Paulo will help us coordinate everything on the ground when the tournament kicks off on June 12th.”
