EXHIBITIONS

Pierre Gouthière: Virtuoso Gilder at the French Court at The Frick Collection

  • Address:The Frick Collection, 1 East 70th Street (between Fifth and Madison Avenues), New York
  • Dates: 16 Nov 2016-19 Feb 2017

This exhibition places the spotlight on Pierre Gouthière (1732 to 1813), the French metal-worker who received many commissions from Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Known as a key eighteenth-century French artist, the exhibition will shed light on the artist’s life and work through 21 pieces from public and private collections including clocks, vases, firedogs, wall lights, and mounts for vases. Organized by the Curator of Decorative Arts at the Frick Collection, Charlotte Vignon, the exhibition promises to be eye-opening.

Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room at The Broad

Recommended by Danielle Krysa, author, art curator and founder of The Jealous Curator.

  • Address:The Broad, 221 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles
  • Dates: Until October 2017

“Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist (avant-garde sculptor, painter, novelist) whose list of artistic accomplishments is so long it's almost infinite, much like her "Infinity Mirrored Room” which is currently installed at The Broad in Los Angeles. This piece is like a beautifully bizarre dream in the form of an art installation. Now, this is a tricky exhibition to get into, but the reason for that trickiness might just be the very best part as it’s because you get this space completely to yourself for one minute. That’s right - no gallery crowds, just you and you alone in a chamber full of mirrors and colorful LED lights as far as the eye can see! Ah yes, a little bit of magic in the middle of downtown LA.”
