Nestled amid 600 acres of olive groves and organic vineyards within the estate of art gallery-cum-winery Château La Coste, Villa La Coste is owned by Irish property developer Patrick McKillen, who also has stakes in luxury London hotels The Connaught, Claridge’s and The Berkeley. Thirty permanent contemporary art installations by celebrated artists including Tracey Emin, Paul Matisse, Louise Bourgeois, Liam Gillick and Ai Weiwei are nestled in the grounds. Guests can experience these works on a two-hour walk, passing architecture by Jean Prouvé, Frank Gehry and Tadao Ando along the way.

Villa La Coste is as passionate about food as it is about art (this is Provence, after all). Fine-dining Restaurant Louison is helmed by Provence-born chef Gérald Passédat, owner of the three Michelin-starred Le Petit Nice in Marseille, who creates exceptional seafood dishes integrating ingredients from the local land.

The hotel’s second restaurant is led by Francis Mallmann, an Argentine chef famous for cooking with fire. The chef uses local ingredients in his signature preparations, such as Mediterranean fish baked in a clay oven and local vegetables cooked in ashes.

A luxurious bed beckons after an evening of gastronomy. The hotel’s 28 minimalist Villa Suites discreetly blend into their surroundings. Natural light pours in through expansive windows and the sleek décor features contemporary furnishings, romantic canopied beds and spacious bathrooms with freestanding Vietnamese bathtubs. Each suite boasts a private terrace and panoramic views of the grounds, while the top two categories – the Pool Villa Suite and the Two-Bedroom Pool Villa Suite – also come with their own private plunge pools.

If you’re inclined to leave your private terrace, the 15-meter main pool is a divine oasis. Set alongside the vineyards and surrounded by whispering cypress trees, there’s no better place to relax, sipping a glass of rosé while admiring views of the vineyard that produced it.

If you’re hoping to squeeze in one last warm-weather getaway, Villa La Coste is the perfect escape. Spend your days admiring art in plein air, unwinding by the pool and dining in world-class restaurants. Allow us to arrange a private jet charter to your Provençal retreat.
