Flying Seasonal Farm Workers

We were asked to fly over 2000 seasonal workers from Romania and Bulgaria to Germany to help farms bring in the harvest during the Covid-19 pandemic in spring 2020. There were several obstacles to overcome, including poor communication from authorities and constantly changing travel restrictions and regulations.

OUR SOLUTION

Route: Passengers were flown from Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest, Sibiu and Iași in Romania, plus Borgas and Sofia in Bulgaria, to the German cities of Hamburg, Nuremberg Frankfurt Hahn and Hanover.

Aircraft: Various aircraft were sourced for the charters, including a Boeing 737-800, McDonnell Douglas MD-82, Airbus A320/A319, and Bombardier CRJ200.

We used our unrivalled local knowledge to identify the only airports in Germany that were accepting flights of harvest workers and allowing them to enter the country. Thanks to our strong relationships with airlines, and good relationship with Romanian and Bulgarian airports, we quickly sourced large aircraft that could transport large groups of workers at once.

Our expert team kept the clients updated throughout and liaised closely with the Romanian, Bulgarian and German authorities to keep up-to-date on current travel restrictions and ensure the smooth transit of over 2,000 farm workers.
