Hire a Private Plane and add a touch of Luxury to your Burning Man experience

Hire a private plane to Burning Man 2017 for the experience of a lifetime. We’ll drop you off directly in the Black Rock Desert.

Once a fringe event, Burning Man has crept into public consciousness over the past three decades. Now, the event draws devoted “Burners” and newcomers from all walks of life, including an adventurous set of celebrities. Last year’s festival was attended by Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, Cara and Poppy Delevigne, and Karlie Kloss. One of the pillars of the event is “Radical Inclusion,” so all are welcome and treated as equals. Unlike most festivals where you are there to watch performances, you are an active participant at the Burning Man festival. You create the art and you are the art. That’s the philosophy, so embrace it. Costumes are a near necessity, with everyone decking out in wild colors, glitter and extravagant accessories.

How to Get to Burning Man 2017

Dates: 27 August - 4 September, 2017

Location: Black Rock Desert, Nevada

One of the most important principles of the Burning Man festival is to leave no trace. This means you will need to bring everything in and take it with you when you go. Needless to say, this is a lot of stuff. You’ll need two gallons of water per day, a bicycle, all your food, gifts for other Burners (more on that later), warm clothes for cold nights, string lights, cooking equipment, the list goes on. You will not be able to get all of this equipment onto a commercial flight.

Instead, hire a private plane to the Black Rock City Airport to land directly in the desert. Like the festival, the Federal Aviation Administration-recognized airport is temporary, set up and taken down annually. Alternatively, you can fly into Reno-Tahoe International Airport. From there, you can pick up your RV, stock up on supplies and make the two-hour drive into the desert.

What You Need to Know about Burning Man

Burning Man first began in 1986, when Larry Harvey and Jerry James built a wooden figure of a man and brought it down to Baker Beach, San Francisco to burn on the Summer Solstice. A crowd gathered to watch it burn. For the next four years, the event was held annually at the beach. In 1990, however, the Golden Gate Park Police intervened to stop the burn. The participants put the Burning Man in storage and later brought him to Black Rock Desert. The event has taken place there ever since.

For the uninitiated, the Burning Man festival is largely an “anything goes” event, but it is guided by ten principles that the community takes to heart. Written in 2004, the principles are not rules, but a reflection of the community’s culture as it has developed since the early days.

The principles are Radical Inclusion, accepting all into the community with no prerequisites, unconditional Gifting and Decommodification, which assure that there will be no commercial sponsorships, advertising or money changing hands at the festival (you can only buy coffee and ice). Radical Self-reliance and Radical Self-expression are the fourth and fifth principles, stating that each person holds unique gifts that they can express as they choose. Communal Effort, Civic Responsibility and Leaving no Trace are touchstone values. The festival is committed to leaving no physical trace, and tries to leave the location in a better state whenever possible. Participation is next: all are invited to join in on the work and the fun.

The final and most important principle is Immediate Experience. In co-founder Larry Harvey’s words, “we seek to overcome barriers that stand between us and a recognition of our inner selves, the reality of those around us, participation in society, and contact with a natural world exceeding human powers.”
