As the world went into lockdown in March 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, we were asked by a freight forwarder to help transport urgently needed PPE including masks and hand sanitiser from China to Lebanon. Scheduled flights on this route had limited capacity but the client’s budget was too small to charter a large long-haul aircraft for such a small consignment, so we needed to quickly find a cost-effective alternative.
Route: Luxembourg > Beirut
Aircraft: Antonov AN-26
With capacity limited on scheduled flights from China to Lebanon, we needed to swiftly get the cargo to a region from which we could easily charter a small aircraft to fly it on to Lebanon. The client was able to secure space on a scheduled service from Beijing to Luxembourg, so we sprung into action and chartered an Antonov AN-26 to complete the final leg of the consignment’s journey. The solution was finalised within an hour.
