Transporting heavy oil and gas equipment to Brazil
A logistics solutions provider working on behalf of an oil and gas company got in touch with us when one of their rigs in Brazil went out of action. To get things back up and running, they need to fly over 64 tonnes of equipment from several suppliers across the United States. Our team got straight to work on a solution for this complex task.
Our Solution
Route: Houston > Cabo Frio
Aircraft: Boeing 747 Freighter
We sourced a Boeing 747 Freighter to transport the heavy and outsized consignment, arranging for the cargo to be trucked from multiple locations to Houston. Once there, it was screened and re-packed into 106 pallets, which were then built up for air transportation and loaded onto the freighter using specialised K-loader flat-bed trucks.
Instead of flying into a commercial hub like Rio de Janeiro, the client wanted to land near their offshore rigs in Cabo Frio. The airport there is primarily used for helicopter crew rotations, so careful planning was needed to accommodate our large cargo flight.
Thanks to our specialist expertise, the charter departed Houston without a hitch and landed in Brazil on schedule, allowing the client to quickly get their rig up and running again.
