DASSAULT FALCON 2000LX

DASSAULT FALCON 2000LX

  • Passengers 12

The Dassault Falcon 2000LX opened up new routes for the already-successful 2000 family with a marked increase in the aircraft’s maximum range. New winglets and internal features brought new levels of performance and sophistication to the popular private jet series.

About this aircraft

  • The Falcon 2000LX is an upgrade of the 2000EX EASy, with new winglets increasing the aircraft’s maximum range by about 400 miles.
  • The aircraft can fly non-stop for 4,769 miles, completing routes like Paris to New York and London to Dubai.
  • Very few Falcon 2000LXs are equipped to fly 19 people. Most are configured for up to 12 passengers, especially for charter purposes.
  • The baggage hold has space for 12 suitcases, meaning each passenger can take at least one item of luggage. There’s also ample storage for hand luggage on board.
  • The model launched in 2007 and production ceased in 2014, as Dassault’s attention turned to the 2000LXS.

The Falcon 2000LX proved yet another success for the ever-improving 2000 series, retaining popular qualities while improving on design and performance.

Interior design

The 2000LX has a spacious, quiet cabin that’s easy to move around during a flight. Typically passengers are seated between two cabin zones, with four large seats at the front and a three-seat divan at the back alongside a four-seat dining area that converts into a double bed for night flights. At the rear is an enclosed lavatory and a sizable galley.

Interesting facts to learn before you fly

  • The Falcon 2000LX isn’t certified to fly into steep-approach airports like London City, but later upgrades like the 2000S and 2000LXS can access the central London airport.
  • The series’ quiet cabins are a noticeable advantage over other private jets in the market.
  • The 2000LX’s winglets were certified for the entire Falcon 2000 series as a retrofit kit.
  • According to Dassault, the 2000LX can climb directly to 41,000 in just 18 minutes.
  • Alternative private jets in the super-midsize category include the Bombardier Challenger 300 and 350, Gulfstream G280 and Cessna Citation X and X+.

Technological features

Like the 2000EX and EX EASy, the Falcon 2000LX is powered by two Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines. Its revolutionary winglets increase the plane’s range, allowing it to climb faster than much of the competition – in fact, the 2000LX can cover 4,000 nautical miles with eight passengers using the same fuel and thrust that the EX needs to cover 3,800 nautical miles.

The cockpit has a Rockwell Collins ProLine 4 fully integrated avionics suite with a Honeywell EASy avionics panel, Allied Signal GNS-XES flight management system, Collins TWR-850 Doppler weather radar and dual channel integrated avionics processor system.

History

Entering service in 1995, the Falcon 2000 was Dassault’s first private jet to be entirely designed using digital technology, resulting in improved aerodynamics and simplified systems. Production ceased in 2006 as Dassault concentrated on developing variants and upgrades.

The 2000EX launched in 2003 with improved range and updated avionics, before being renamed the 2000EX EASy following the addition of a Honeywell Primus Epic EASy integrated modular avionics suite and cockpit display system.

The 2000DX and 2000LX variants followed in 2007, with the latter boasting a 4,769-mile range thanks to revolutionary new winglets. Production of the 2000LX ended in 2014 as the company began delivering the upgraded 2000LXS.

Manufacturer

Dassault Aviation’s history dates back to the dawn of aviation. Marcel Bloch (later known as Marcel Dassault) founded the company following a childhood fascination with aesthetics and innovation and it went on to become one of the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers.

Following the oil shock of 1973-74 and the Iranian crisis in 1979, the global economy felt the impact of rising raw material prices. Dassault bolstered its fundamentals by developing exports of civil and military aircraft against a backdrop of increasingly fierce international competition. Today, the brand holds a special place in the industry as the only global aerospace company still owned by its founding family.

Cost

According to Aircraft Bluebook's summer 2022 data, the average price for a Falcon 2000LX ranges between $11m (USD) for a 2007 model and $18m for a 2012 model.
