The Canyonlands Field Airport opened during the mid 1960s and had one runway measuring in at just shy of 7000 feet. This original runway was replaced with the current runway in 1985. According to the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 the airport has been categorized as a non-primary commercial service airport; an airport dealing with between 2500 and 10 000 enplanements a year. The airport is used for general aviation and is services by one airline, subsidized by the Essential Air Service program.
