Pearland Regional Airport is located in unincorporated Brazoria County, Texas. The airport is located 17 miles south of the Houston CBD. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, Pearland Regional Airport is assigned LVJ by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA. The airport was constructed in 1950 and is currently owned by Clover Acquisition Corporation. In April 2010, a small single-engine plane took off from Pearland Regional Airport and crashed shortly thereafter in Friendswood, about a mile south of the airport. The pilot was killed in the crash
