William R Fairchild International lies 3 miles west of Port Angeles, and is a public service airport in Clallam County, Washington. Its development was a joint effort between the Progress Works Administration, US Army and US Navy during 1934 to 1948. It was then named the Clallam County Municipal Landing Field.
In 1953, William R Fairchild started the Angeles Flying Service and became the first supervisor of the airport, and it was later renamed from Clallam County Municipal LF in his honor, after his tragic death in 1963.
