The state of Washington was named after the first president of the United States of America and is situated in the Pacific North-west of the country. Washington is above Oregon and has Idaho to the east, while it borders Canada to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The biggest city in the state is Seattle, home to the world famous Space Needle. The city is was one of the technological centres of the country during the 1980s. The state is within the top 15 most populous in the country (13th), and one of the leading lumber producers in the USA.
